NME Festival blog: N.E.R.D. have just announced themselves for Reading and Leeds 2018

The line-up continues to grow… With Reading and Leeds 2018 just over a week away, it looks as if N.E.R.D. have announced themselves as a last minute addition to the line-up. Taking place over Bank Holiday Weekend from Friday 24 – Sunday 26 August, this year’s two-city festival will see performances from Fall Out Boy, Kendrick Lamar, Kings Of Leon, Panic! At The Disco, Courteeners, Wolf Alice, Pendulum, Dua Lipa, Travis Scott, Slaves and many more. Now,  hip-hop pioneers N.E.R.D. Chvrches have released a surprise new single featuring J-Pop outfit Wednesday Campanella. Check out the video below. Following on from their acclaimed 2018 album ‘Love Is Dead‘, the track is an immediate rush of Chvrches’ sci-fi synth pop, with Lauren Mayberry delivering a huge and infectious chorus while Wednesday Campanella sings the verses in Japanese. Remember ALF? He’s back… Reports suggest that Warner Bros. are in the ‘early stages’ of developing a reboot of classic ’80s TV sitcom ALF. The hit show ran for four seasons between 1986 and 1990, telling the story of a friendly and sarcastic alien who crash-landed in the garage of the Tanner family. Over 102 episodes, the wise-cracking, cat-hating extraterrestrial got caught up in various misadventures as he attempted to blend in with suburban American life. The police officer ‘only listened to Enya and a little bit of Oasis’ Police have issued a brilliant ‘joke’ apology after Marilyn Manson shared photos of himself being handcuffed at a festival earlier this week. Happy Days. Having recently kicked off the latest summer leg of their tour, Weezer have been using the opening of the show to recreate their iconic video to their classic single ‘Buddy Holly’. Check out footage from the show below. Proceedings begin with the Happy Days theme tune,  before the character Al Molinaro tells the crowd: “Okay, kids, Arnold’s is proud to present Kenosha, Wisconsin’s own Weezer!” The curtain then drops to show the stage dressed like Al’s Diner as in their 1994 video, with the band dressed in full 1950’s preppy gear.
