NME Festival blog: This guy pretended to be Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker at an awards ceremony

An Australian radio station sent a Kevin Parker impersonator to the ARIA Music Awards this week. Australia’s ARIA awards took place in Sydney on Tuesday (November 28) and made headlines after Harry Styles stopped to kiss Lorde on the cheek before accepting an award. However, before the event kicked off, local radio station Triple J sent a lookalike dressed as the Tame Impala frontman, as well as ones posing as singer Meg Mac and Adam Hyde from electronic duo Peking Duk, down the red carpet. NME Festival blog: The long-delayed MIA documentary will premiere at Sundance 2018

The long-delayed documentary film about MIA will have its world premiere at next year’s Sundance Film Festival. Titled MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A., the film has been directed by Stephen Loveridge. Sundance’s synopsis for the doc teases: “Drawn from a never before seen cache of personal footage spanning decades, this is an intimate portrait of the Sri Lankan artist and musician who continues to shatter conventions.” The documentary film has actually been in the work for several years.
